Maria Scaglione Photography is based in Rhode Island and New Haven, CT, serving the whole of New England and the New York metropolitan area. I bring a highly-trained artistic eye and professional approach to your important events. My work as a photographer is informed by my personal history and training.
A moment of intimacy, a fleeting expression, a dramatic gesture. You don’t want to miss a minute or let your memories fade away from your special events. My images will capture and express the full emotions of your special day, from weddings and reunions to birthdays and anniversaries. Under a tent, on the beach, in a lovely chapel, I am open to work at any location, in any weather for your finest hours. After the event, the images are presented in both color and high-quality black & white. The work is posted online in a timely manner for your review. I work in collaboration with a reputable processor who can deliver single images or complete albums. I can also offer you experienced advice on the framing process and display options. I was raised in southern Italy and Westerly, Rhode Island. During my college studies, I traveled to northern Italy to apprentice myself to a marble-carving studio in the historic town of Pietrasanta. As I was learning to carve stone, I began the serious (and more modern) pursuit of making photographs. When I returned to this country to pursue my M.F.A. at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, I found a fertile subject in my immediate family who carry on their old-world traditions in small-town America. I am currently writing a photo-illustrated cookbook documenting these traditions. I am happy to announce that I have been awarded an artist's grant for the coming year by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. Thank you for your attention. Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me. |
