I take an artistic and photojournalistic approach to
memorializing your special day. I will portray the
excitement of your wedding in an unobtrusive,
perceptive and original style.
The emotion and details of your special day will be captured in a documentary style made personal by your choice of traditional or digital methods, and color or black and white photos. I deliver intriguing compositions that are informative and highly personal.
I have been photographing professionally for over a
decade, and hold a Master of Fine Arts degree in
photography from the School of Visual Art in New York City. I also have extensive formal training in
sculpture and art history.
I first developed a passion for photography while an
art student in Florence, Italy, where I studied the
Early Renaissance. I next spent a year learning
traditional marble stone carving in Pietrasanta,
Italy, then worked and studied in Hungary and Romania, where I documented the lives of rural farmers after the fall of dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. For nearly two decades, I have frequently returned to my childhood home of Calabria, Italy to photograph an ongoing chronicle of people’s lives in the small villages there, depicting how they both preserve and slowly adapt their cultural traditions as time progresses. In the States, while earning my master’s degree, I began to document a broad social spectrum of women, their homes, their possessions, and the ordinary things they do in those settings, using photography and video. Photographing weddings seemed to me a natural outgrowth of this work.
I reside in Westerly, Rhode Island, and exhibit my
work in this country and abroad. I use 35mm Nikon film and digital cameras, and medium format film cameras.
